Hi my name is Mark Harmer. I am the Assistant Principal (Primary) at McAuley Catholic College.
I have previously held roles as Deputy Principal, English Coordinator and Sports Coordinator in schools in both NSW and VIC.
My family and I moved to Tumut just before Christmas after living in Victoria for nine years. My wife is originally from Wagga Wagga, and I am from Temora, so it is great to be back closer to home!
We have three school aged children, all of whom have their very own distinct personality and interests!
I enjoy spending my spare time playing and watching sport and enjoying time with my family.
My wife and I made the conscious decision to move to McAuley and the Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn due to the outstanding reputation in academic achievement, care and focus on student wellbeing.
We look forward to settling in Tumut and the years ahead.
Katie Campbell
My name is Katie Campbell. I have joined the McAuley staff in the Secondary School. I am teaching Year 11 English, 7 and 8 Music and 7 Science. I have been teaching on and off for the last 15 years in NSW, interstate and overseas. I am passionate about Music and am looking forward to building Music across the school. I have three young children, one of whom has moved to McAuley in the Primary School. I am grateful to be a part of McAuley Catholic College and am looking forward to a wonderful year.
Katie Haley
I'm Katie Haley, and I work part time on the secondary side of McAuley, supporting other teachers to undertake training or attend special events. You'll see me in a variety of classrooms, helping at all year levels. I grew up in Tumut, spent some time overseas travelling and studying, and I've come back to reconnect with my community and raise a family.
This is my first year in teaching, after spending most of my career in journalism. My favourite thing about being a journalist was being allowed to leave my desk when important things were happening in the community, and being able to dive in and ask the questions that people reading or listening to the news needed to know. This was especially true during natural disasters like floods and fires.
Currently, I live on 100 acres near Batlow with my husband and a big house full of boys, and I'm learning (very slowly!) how to be a gardener and grow a few veggies.
Erin Kingwill
My name is Erin Kingwill, I have taught in the primary setting for over a decade. I am thrilled to be part of the McAuley Catholic College community, teaching Year One. Beyond the classroom, I am a proud parent of two children, aged eight and almost seven. My family and I reside on a small property outside of town. We enjoy taking full advantage of our surroundings, particularly enjoying the beauty of the Tumut River and engaging in various outdoor activities. I am genuinely excited about the learning journey that awaits both my students and me at McAuley Catholic College.
Michelle Hillier
I am the new year 3 teacher here at McAuley Catholic College and have been teaching primary since 2010. I have three adult children and love spending time with my family. We enjoy fishing and camping and working on our farm. I'm looking forward to 2024 and working with everyone here at McAuley.
Robyn Ryan
This year I am teaching Year 9 and 10 Religion, Year 11 Studies Of Religion and Modern History. My major subject areas are Humanities and English. I have over 20 years teaching experience, all in Queensland, and I look forward to the new challenges in NSW. I was born in Goulburn and grew up in Northern NSW. I have 4 grown children and a new grandson to spoil. I love camping and fishing and look forward to doing both in this beautiful area.
Judy Sarton
Hi everyone. My name is Judy Sarton and I am new to McAuley Catholic College. Currently I am teaching Year 8 English, Year 9 Geography and Year 11 English Studies. I also have 2 daughters who are attending McAuley as well. We have been living overseas for the last 2 years due to my husband’s work and hopefully we can settle down back in Tumut now. I would like to thank our McAuley family for giving my family a warm welcome.
McAuley celebrated their first Opening Mass as a College on Wednesday 21st February.
It was a beautiful Mass with the 2024 College Captains and SRC receiving their badges.
We would like to thank the special guests that were present at the Mass, Father Joe, Tony Butler, Tim Smith, Kevin Vytilingam, Patrick McArdle, Sue Bulger, Chris Baron, Geoff Whitnell, Lyndal McKay, Ian Chaffey.
Henry Piper and Aylah Clout are in Wollongong today for the MacKillop basketball trials. Good luck for a big day ahead!
WESTERN REGION SWIMMING CARNIVAL
What a day! Our McAuley team swam brilliantly at the Western Region carnival in Cootamundra yesterday. There were plenty of personal best swims, lots of placings, new friendships made and some very proud families. Our students did the school proud. Thanks to Mrs Bathgate for her organisation and to all the travelling families, especially those that organised children and filled in timekeeping. We are so lucky to have such supportive families and amazing competitors.

Year 11 Biology students did an activity where they had to model a plant or animal cell, including cellular organelles, with plasticine and other materials. Students had to use images and descriptions of subcellular structures to produce a simplified representation of what is found in the two different sorts of cells to make it easier to communicate and educate people on structures that are usually too small to see.
In Kinder this week we have used our artistic skills to create some amazing starry night collages. We used bubble wrap to paint the night sky and finger painting to decorate foil stars. Our finished artworks look brilliant! These artworks were inspired by the book 'How To Catch A Star' by Oliver Jeffers.
Looking for a student to mind a 9 year old boy before and after school.
