STAFF SPIRITUALITY DAY

On the first day of this term, McAuley staff participated in their annual Spirituality Day, with a focus on "The Face of Mercy." This day of reflection and formation provided us with an invaluable opportunity to delve deeper into the history, values and traditions of our founding religious order, the Sisters of Mercy, and to renew our commitment to embodying their charism in all aspects of our College community.

Our day began with an exploration of the life of Catherine McAuley, the visionary founder of the Sisters of Mercy. Her unwavering dedication to serving the poor, sick, and uneducated continues to inspire our mission at McAuley Catholic College. We also reflected on the rich history of our school and its roots in the Mercy tradition, reminding us of the legacy we uphold and the values we strive to impart to our students.

Embracing this charism means more than honouring our past; it calls us to embody these values in our teaching, relationships, and professional conduct. As educators, we are committed to building a College culture that reflects the core principles of the Mercy tradition—compassion, justice, respect, and service.

The day was structured around several key learning intentions:
  • Exploring the Life of Catherine McAuley: Understanding the foundations of the Sisters of Mercy and the history of McAuley College.
  • Reflecting on Values and Traditions: Embracing the charism of the Sisters of Mercy in our daily interactions and professional lives.
  • Providing Opportunities for Formation: Engaging in prayerfulness and reflection to deepen our spiritual growth.
  • Fostering a Communal Catholic Identity: Strengthening the sense of community and shared faith within our College.
Throughout the day, we engaged in meaningful discussions, reflective practices, and communal prayers, all aimed at enhancing our understanding and commitment to our Mercy heritage. This experience has not only enriched our personal and professional lives but has also strengthened our collective resolve to provide an education that is deeply rooted in the values of mercy and compassion.

As a staff we are dedicated to nurturing a College environment where every student feels valued, respected, and inspired to live out the principles of the Mercy tradition.

We are grateful for your ongoing support and partnership in this mission. Together, let us continue to embody "The Face of Mercy" in all that we do.
