FROM THE REC
McAuley's Scripture Quote for 2023
Our Scripture quote for 2023 is ‘Let your light shine!’ Jesus encourages us to let our light shine before others, calling us to live an active life of faith, not a passive one. We are called to be a light for others. As a school family, we seek to follow the example of Jesus in all that we do.
At McAuley, we believe that everyone can shine the light of the Lord on those around us by the words we speak and the actions we take. This is one of the great gospel images of discipleship: the light of discipleship in Jesus Christ shining for all the world to see.
We want our community to be beacons that shine far and wide, lighting up our region with the light of Jesus in all that we do. Let’s choose to allow our light to shine in the world as Blessed Catherine McAuley did. By following this example, we say to every member of our community: Let your light shine!
Shining with Mercy Spirit
Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Mercy sisters said “We should be shining lamps, giving light to all around us.” This quote references our Catholic faith, the tradition of the Mercy Sisters, and their charism. If we are shining with Mercy Spirit, we give service to others, we are a positive example; just as the Mercy Sisters were. The Spirit of Mercy is the name of McAuley's awards and allows connection between our award and the school values of resilience, respect, relationships, kindness and integrity.
The Mercy Cross
Let us pray… Gracious God of hope,
During the coming year may we strive together to give of our best and be our best,
so that the love with which you surround us may be a living reality in our community.
We make this prayer in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
