ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Turnbull_David.jpg
Week 7 of Term 4 has been extremely productive. It has been pleasing to see students continuing to build our school culture and spirit. Some of our students who regularly display our Mercy Values have been recognised this week with Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Recognising positive behaviour and actions not only allows us to build our school culture and spirit, it also reinforces to the students that being a positive role model is something that they should all strive for.

Our Year 5 and 6 students have enjoyed their time at the Department of Sport & Recreation facility in Jindabyne. The activities on offer allowed the students to participate in positive team building activities. In all of the photos you can see the students enjoying each other's company.

Our Year 10 students have been in Tasmania for the past week, discovering some of the great attractions that the ‘Apple Isle’ has to offer. From exciting rope climbing activities in Launceston to the Historic Penal Colony at Port Arthur, the students have been enjoying every minute. The daily video posts to Facebook have been very entertaining to watch.

With the extracurricular activities that are offered to students, the staff at McAuley are to be commended. They have given up time away from their families, as well as being on call for the duration of these excursions, not to mention the time that has gone into the planning and preparation for these events.  A huge thank you to Lyn Bathgate, Cameron Ellison, Megan Turnbull and Anna Stubbs for their work with the Jindabyne excursion, and also to Jeanette Dumbrell, Julie Greacen, Eamonn Moore and Dora Du for taking the time to spend with Year 10 students in Tasmania.

I would like to advise of some important end of year dates that are fast approaching.

  • Monday 28 November: Year 10 students completing HSC modules - ‘All My Own Work’
  • Wednesday 30 November: Thursday 1 December - Year 10 PASS Trip to Kosciuszko National Park
  • Friday 2 December: K-6 Awesome Authors Celebration
  • Thursday 8 December: Semester 2 Reports K-10 go home
  • Thursday 8 December: Year 10 Mass & Dinner
  • Monday 12- Wednesday 14 December: Year 9 Excursion to Tathra
  • Wednesday 14 December: End of Year Awards Assembly

I hope that you are able to enjoy some beautiful spring weather over the coming days.

Regards,

David Turnbull
