HOLIDAY ACTIVITES AT MONTREAL THEATRE

ROALD DAHL’s Dirty Beasts and Revolting Repertoire

This April school holidays, the Montreal Community Theatre together with the shake & stir theatre co present five days of frivolous fun with Roald Dahl.  Dirty Beasts & Revolting Repertoire is a school holiday program designed for the whole family.

Never before seen in Tumut, shake & stir is widely acknowledged as a leading national touring theatre company, taking medium to large scale works to major metropolitan and regional centres, annually.  Lead by an experienced team of professional actors and directors, the program offers something for everyone.

Dirty Beasts - a public performance that bursts off the page in a spectacular live show. Frighteningly funny and seriously silly, Dirty Beasts is the perfect family entertainment for children aged 3 to 103. It delights and disgusts in equal. Tickets $25 per person.

Revolting Repertoire – a four day drama residency for students aged 7 to 12.  Using the magic of the performing arts, students will delve into the wonderful world of Roald Dahl, exploring his stories, poems and revoltingly hilarious characters. Finishing the week with a mega mix of marvelous moments in a showcase performance for friends and family.  Tickets $290 per person and limited to 25 places.

 Theatre Bootcamp – a three hour drama masterclass for students aged 12 to 18.  Tailored for the Montreal Community Theatre this is the perfect opportunity for young and hungry actors to build stage confidence and develop a skills set used in auditions, rehearsals, storytelling and performance. Tickets $45 per person and limited to 35 places.

shake & stir is one of the country’s leading contemporary theatre companies touring Australia and New Zealand since 2006.  Mainstage work has included: Fantastic Mr Fox, A Christmas Carol, George’s Marvelous Medicine, Endgame, Dracula, Wuthering Heights, 1984, Tequila Mockingbird, Animal Farm and Statespeare.

The school holiday program and has been enabled by funding from the Snowy Valleys Council as well as the Blakeney Millar Foundation.  Funding was provided as a resilience and recovery project following the 2020 Black Summer bush fires.

The active engagement and interpersonal experiences fostered through drama and theatre education can have overreaching positive effects for children including; building self-confidence, harnessing the imagination, improving social skills as well as improving listening and communication skills.
