Grandparents' Day
Last Friday was a very special day at McAuley Catholic College, as our Primary Campus celebrated Grandparents’ Day. The day began with a joyful assembly filled with song and dance, where our students’ energy and enthusiasm lit up the room. After the assembly, families were invited into classrooms to see the children’s work and share in their learning.
The celebrations then continued on the new campus for morning tea, where grandparents, parents and friends gathered to enjoy delicious food, plenty of cups of tea, and lots of laughter. Stories were shared about past school days at McAuley, with many remarking on how much the campus has grown and changed over the years.
It was a truly heartwarming occasion — one that brought together generations, celebrated family, and created memories that will be cherished for a long time to come.

Exploring Careers in the ADF

Our students recently had the opportunity to hear from representatives of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). They learned about a wide range of job roles across the Navy, Army and Air Force, and had the chance to ask plenty of questions.
Speaking with current serving members gave them a real insight into what a career in the ADF could look like, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was an engaging and inspiring session that left many thinking about the possibilities for their own futures.

Regional Finals - Netball NSW Schools Cup
Year 9/10 girls had a great day in Wagga at the Regional Finals of the Netball NSW Schools Cup. Competition was very tough but the girls held their own and pushed each opposition team, showing great sportsmanship and representing McAuley with pride. Thank you to Mrs Stubbs for coaching.

McAuley Basketball Has an Amazing Week!
What an incredible week for McAuley basketball! On Tuesday 26 August, three of our teams headed to Wagga for the BNSW U16s All Schools Regional Championships. It was a fantastic day, with all three teams winning their divisions and earning a spot at the State Championships in Penrith next month. Huge congratulations to our players – you are superstars! A big thank you also to our coaches Gina, Alicia, Narissa and Todd for their dedication.
The celebrations continued on Wednesday 27 August, when eight teams competed in Canberra at the CG Archdiocesan Secondary Basketball Championships. Our students performed brilliantly, with victories in the 7/8 Boys, 7/8 Girls, 9/10 Boys and 9/10 Girls divisions. These four winning teams will now represent McAuley and our diocese at the NSWCCC Basketball Championships in Penrith next term.
A heartfelt thank you once again to Gina, Alicia and Todd – your time, support and coaching make these achievements possible!

NSW CCC Championships
After their fantastic winning performance at the Canberra Goulburn Netball Carnival in Term 1, our girls were invited to compete in the NSW CCC Netball Championships in Penrith.
They had an incredible day, winning 4 out of 5 games and finishing 2nd overall! Well done girls – we’re so proud of you!
A big thank you also to Mrs Pearce for her wonderful coaching and care of the team in Sydney.

Book an Adventure
Last Friday, our Primary Campus celebrated Book Week, with the theme “Book an Adventure.” Our K–6 students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed getting creative with their dress-ups, showcasing an amazing variety of costumes—from Where’s Wally to Hogwarts and everything in between!
It was wonderful to see our school community and families come together to celebrate the joy of reading and imagination at our Book Week parade. We especially loved being able to welcome families along to enjoy the day under the new COLA on our campus—it made the occasion even more special!

Blakeney Lodge
Although our Year 5/6 White students weren’t able to visit our friends at Blakeney Lodge this week, they still found a beautiful way to spread joy.
They created bright, colourful flowers for the residents — a thoughtful gesture to lift spirits and celebrate Spring arriving!

Year 5/6 Canberra Excursion
Our Year 5 and 6 students recently enjoyed a fantastic week in Canberra, making the most of every experience the nation’s capital had to offer. Over the course of the trip, they visited the Royal Australian Mint, learning about coin production, paid their respects at the War Memorial, explored incredible artworks at the National Gallery, and experienced the halls of Parliament House. They also had an exciting and educational time at Questacon, discovering hands-on science and technology exhibits.
Beyond the city sights, students had plenty of fun outdoors. They challenged themselves at the Treetops adventure course, climbed Mt Ainslie for spectacular views of Canberra, and enjoyed some light-hearted competition with ten pin bowling.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Government has contributed $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards those costs. We are grateful for this funding support, which helped make this valuable learning experience possible.
The week provided a wonderful balance of learning, adventure, and friendship. Our students returned home tired but with incredible memories, new knowledge, and stories to share with their families. A big thank you to all the staff and helpers who supported the trip and helped make it such a successful and memorable time for everyone involved.

Mortimer Legends Gala Day
Stage 3 League Stars Mortimer Legends Day 2025 took place yesterday at Owen Vincent Oval, Gundagai, and our students had a wonderful time! 💙
Fresh back from their Canberra Camp, the Year 5/6 students jumped straight into the action as the NRL Development Team offered some fantastic competitions:
Mixed League Tag (boys and girls combined)
Mixed Tackle Rugby League (boys and girls combined), split into experienced and inexperienced divisions.
The day focused on fun, participation, and celebrating the sport— it was a fantastic day of teamwork, skill, and enjoyment, and our students made the most of every moment!
